FIRST OFFICER PROGRAM & AIRLINE COURSE EVALUATION

Airman Knowledge Exam
One of the first items will be a general airmans knowledge test. This will be covering standard aviation knowledge from the Private to Commercial Pilot standards. The test is 50 questions and the applicant must score 80% or greater.

IFR Competency Course
Along with the entrance exam and evaluation process, Gulfstream Academy requires each student to complete our Instrument Competency Course which begins on the first Monday of each month. The Competency Course includes 8 hours of ground school, and covers the AIM, FARS, Jeppesen approach plates, and general instrument procedures. In addition, each student will receive two, 1.5 hour sessions in the Frasca 242 simulator with an instructor, for a total of 3 hours, in preparation for the Simulator Evaluation. The cost is Instrument Refresher Course $399, and is not included in the price of the First Officer Program. Should additional simulator time be necessary, additional cost may be encored.

Entrance Evaluation
Prior to final acceptance into the First Officer Program, each student must pass an entrance exam and simulator evaluation. The entrance exam and sim evaluation are not intended to assess the candidates overall proficiency. To review the simulation evaluation, a sample sim profile and a study guide, review the “Entrance and Study Guide tab”, which will cover the areas being evaluated. Should a student be found to have any significant deficiencies, they will not be admitted into the First Officer Program. After a 30 day waiting period the candidate may again apply for the program.

Personal Driving Record
All candidates must submit a certified original copy of their driving record history covering the past ten years(or max available per state). Applicants who have been convicted of driving under the influence (or the equivalent), or have receive more than three (3) moving traffic violations in the past (5) years, may not be accepted for training.

Drug Screening Exam
All incoming candidates will be required to complete a drug screening urinalysis within the first two weeks of beginning training and on an ongoing random basis. It is also Gulfstream International Airlines' policy to conduct random drug screening of all flight sensitive employees on an ongoing basis.

Airline Uniforms

Candidates are required to wear uniforms, beginning the first day and during all activities. GULFSTREAM ACADEMY will provide the cap insignia, wings and epaulettes. The student is responsible for furnishing his/her own black cap, black uniform jacket with the appropriate gold stripes, black pants, black socks, black tie, black belt, black flight bag and white short-sleeved shirts with epaulette tabs (button-down shirts or other deviations from standard collar are not approved). GULFSTREAM ACADEMY will repurchase uniform hats and coats in good condition with proof of recent cleaning at the completion of the program.
